Why go
The Matterhorn rises above car-free Zermatt at the head of the Matter valley. Gornergrat railway, Sunnegga funicular and mountain lifts open different views without requiring an ascent. The village, lakes and panoramic trails make the destination useful for both a day trip and a longer Alpine stay.
